In the workshop, Stirlingshire
Joiners · Stirlingshire
Made forthe room youactually have.
Kitchens, stairs and fitted storage, built in our workshop and fitted by the people who made them. Drawn and priced before anything is cut.
What we make
Four things, done properly.
-
Carcasses, doors and worktops made to the walls you actually have. Painted or oiled, your choice of handles, and a drawer that still runs true in ten years.
-
Treads, spindles and handrails made to match what is already in the house. We would rather repair a hundred year old flight than rip it out.
-
The gaps either side of a chimney breast, the slope under the stairs, the loft room with no straight walls. Flat-pack was never going to fit.
-
Hardwood doors, sash windows repaired rather than replaced, and mouldings matched to the ones already there.
The work
Some of what has left the workshop.

Timber
What it is made of, and why.
-
Oak
Hard wearing, open grain. Worktops, stairs, anything that gets used.
-
Ash
Pale and straight. Takes a stain well, good for painted work that wants to stay crisp.
-
Tulipwood
Stable and smooth. The best thing under paint, which is where most of ours goes.
-
Redwood
Softwood, properly dried. Skirtings, architraves and sash repairs.
How a job runs
Four steps, no surprises.
A look at the room
Half an hour with a tape and a notebook. No charge, and no pressure at the end of it.
A drawing and a price
You get a drawing and a fixed, itemised price, so you can see where the money goes.
Made in the workshop
Most of it is built here, not on your floor. Less dust, less time with the house in bits.
Fitted and finished
Fitted, adjusted, and nothing left for you to sort out. The offcuts leave with us.

Questions
The ones we get asked at the first visit.
Four to six weeks from the drawing being signed off, with about a week of that in your house. Most of the build happens in the workshop.
Usually, yes. Bring us a photo or let us see it. Matching old mouldings is most of what we do in older houses.
A single wardrobe or a repaired sash window is fine. We would rather do a small job well than chase only big ones.
Oak, ash and tulipwood mostly, and redwood for painted work. We will tell you what suits the job and what it adds to the price.
Ask for a price
Tell us about the room.
A rough size and a photo is plenty to start. We will come and measure properly before anything is priced.
